The quantity produced in this basin contributes highly to the total production of the state of Andhra. The Krishna Godavari Basin is formed by two east-coast rivers namely, Krishna and Godavari. This is located in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The climate in this region is hot and humid. The general temperature is between 35 and 49 o C in summers and 25 to 30 o C. The Krishna Godavari Basin includes uplands plains, delta plains, and coastal plains. The land in this region is very fertile. All these conditions are the reason for the high rice production in this region.

Krishna- Godavari is known as the region of rice bowl in India as it produces the highest quantity of rice all over the country. The main delta of the Krishna- Godavari rivers lies in the state of Andhra Pradesh where the production is optimum and hence the state is known as the Rice Bowl state in India. Rice makes up seventy-seven percent of the total crop production.
