- One example of precision farming is Variable Rate Irrigation (VRI). With variable rate irrigation (VRI), farmers can modify the water flow and pressure of each sprinkler or nozzle by the soil moisture content, crop stage, and weather conditions. VRI can increase agricultural productivity and quality while saving energy, water, and fertilizer.
