Structure of Your Demat Account ID
While the BO ID itself is 8 digits, your overall demat account ID might be 16 digits. This 16-digit number is a combination of your DP ID and BO ID.
- DP ID (Depository Participant Identification Number): This is a unique ID for Zerodha as your depository participant (DP). It remains the same for all Zerodha clients and is usually 12081600 or 12081601.
- BO ID (Beneficiary Owner Identification Number): This is the 8-digit unique ID assigned specifically to your demat account.
What is BO ID in Zerodha?
Investing in the stock market often involves opening a demat account to hold your shares electronically. Zerodha, a popular Indian brokerage firm, uses the Central Depository Services Limited (CDSL) as the depository for its clients’ demat accounts. When you open a demat account with Zerodha, you’ll receive a unique identification number called a BO ID.
