Tata Technologies Interview Experience for Graduate Engineer Trainee Position
I recently had the opportunity to interview with Tata Technologies for the Graduate Engineer Trainee position On Campus.
There were totally 4 rounds,(1 online Test+1 GD +2 (HR + Technical Round))
Round-1 (Online Coding Test)
It had 4 sections:
- Code Debugging (C, C++, Java). (15 minutes)
- Aptitude and Reasoning Ability. (15 minutes)
- Core Subject (CN, OS, DBMS, SQL).
- Coding Round. (30 minutes)
- The first 3 sections were fairly easy, but one needs to be a tad bit quicker to finish all the questions on time.
- There were 2 coding questions. Which was Easy to Medium Level of Leetcode.
Round-2 (Group Discussion)
- Setup: 6-8 candidates, 30-minute discussion, judged by a panel of three.
- Topic: The topic was based on the current affairs which was going on.
- It was to test the Communication skills, critical thinking, and teamwork of the candidates.
Round – 3 (Technical Interview)
The third round was a technical interview, where the interviewer, began by asking me to introduce myself and explain my project. My project, which I had developed using React, was a significant discussion point. They asked detailed questions about the project’s implementation and the challenges I faced.
Then he asked me questions related to DBMS and OS and some situation-based questions to evaluate my problem-solving and decision-making skills. The interviewer then shifted focus to Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA). The DSA segment included :
2 DSA Questions (Easy – Medium level)
Then interviewer continued with asking some essential algorithms and their applications .
The interview concluded with questions on Basic compiler design .
- Strong Foundation in DSA: A thorough understanding of Data Structures and Algorithms is essential. Reviewing my project and DSA concepts helped significantly.
- Communication and Patience: Maintaining clarity and patience throughout the interview process is vital. Effective communication and understanding questions can make a big difference.
Round – 4 (HR Round )
The final round was the HR interview where I got to know more about me and my role in the company. It was a straightforward round focusing on my expectations and the company’s offerings and some HR questions .
- Researching the company, understanding the sector they operate in, and knowing the specific role I was applying for proved crucial.
I am pleased to share that I successfully cleared all rounds, including the HR round. This experience highlights the importance of a well-rounded technical understanding, effective communication, and a strong foundation in DSA for success in technical interviews.
