Magnetic Pole Strength
Magnetic pole strength refers to the intensity of a magnet’s magnetism. It determines how strongly a magnet attracts or repels other magnets. This strength is dependent on various factors including the material of the magnet and its physical dimensions such as size, height, length and intensity of magnetism.
The formula to calculate magnetic pole strength:
Magnetic Pole strength Formula
Magnetic pole strength (m) = Magnetic moment (μ) / Magnetic length (l)
Magnetic moment (μ): This represents the overall strength and direction of a magnet’s magnetic field. It’s measured in ampere-meter squared (Am²).
Magnetic length (l): This is the effective length of the magnet, essentially the distance between its north and south poles. It’s measured in meters (m).
Units:
The SI unit for magnetic pole strength is ampere-meter (A⋅m).
Magnetic Pole
Magnetic poles are one of the fundamental concepts in magnetism, describing the regions of a magnet where the magnetic force is the strongest. There are two types of magnetic poles: the north pole and the south pole.
In this article, we will learn about Magnetic Poles, determination of magnetic poles, magnetic strength, and other terms related to magnets.
