JEE Mains Exam Experience 9

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) MAIN is one of the most prestigious and competitive engineering entrance exams in India. All candidates who aspire to secure admission into top engineering colleges in India appear for this exam. It is an exam that tests not only the theoretical knowledge of the candidate but also the clarity of concepts with numerical analysis.

Beginning of preparation

As an aspiring engineer, I was well aware of the significance of this exam and the immense competition it entails. Nonetheless, I was determined to give my best shot at it. Therefore, I began my preparation right from the beginning of 11th class which gave me a head start in the preparation.

Preparation Resources

Even if you begin your preparation late, I assure you that you can catch up with the pace if you can choose the right study material. Preparing for the JEE Main exam requires a comprehensive and strategic approach. You don’t need to invest in expensive study materials. All you need is to develop problem-solving skills.

To begin with the preparation, NCERT textbooks for 11th and 12th (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) are a must. You need to read the NCERT books quite several times to be able to remember every data mentioned in them.

The most important resources for a JEE aspirant are previous year papers. Going through at least the papers of the past three years is recommended. Half the preparation is done if you just solve the previous year’s papers because it helps you understand the paper pattern and the types of questions asked in the exam.

Nowadays, there are numerous teachers and sources online that guide you toward clearing the exam. You need to spend some time to find the sources which are right for you. Just focus on the quality of the content you consume and not the quantity of it. Similarly, focus on utilizing your study time to its best rather than spending more time to get over with the same topic. I purchased an online batch that provided modules for improving my problem-solving ability. Honestly, that was all I practised besides previous years’ questions.

Significance of Mock Exams

Apart from learning problem-solving skills, one is also supposed to learn to solve efficiently. Time management is an important factor in JEE Main. Giving mock exams gets you used to the time constraint of the exam and forces you to effectively solve questions. Further, it gives you more questions to solve other than the previous year’s papers. There are several mock papers available online but it is advised to appear for mock papers set by trusted or popular websites or institutes.

My experience

Like everyone else, I was tense before the exam, but I tried to keep calm. I had given so many mocks that now I was enjoying the process. The experience of a competitive exam is unmatched because you sit in a room where hundreds have assembled to appear for an exam which is supposed to decide the next few years of their life. Just imagining this would bring me chills. In such an atmosphere, you need to remain cool and focus on yourself. Nevertheless, I was successful in implementing my paper attempting strategy and to my delight, I scored well in both attempts with an All India Rank of 22783. I was thrilled to see my hard work produce such fruitful results.

Conclusion:

The JEE Main exam experience has been a transformative journey for me. It has not only tested my academic abilities but also challenged me to develop essential skills such as time management, critical thinking, and resilience. Such experiences make you strong not only academically but also mentally. You learn to cope with your difficulties. The competitive exam journey after the 12th class is essential in terms of personal development. If you’re an aspiring engineer, I encourage you to invest in the right resources, practice mock exams diligently, and develop a deep understanding of the concepts. With dedication and perseverance, you too can achieve your goals.
