American Revolutionaries: Samuel Adams (1722-1803)
He was the cousin of John Adams and played an important role in the creation of opposition to British rule in Boston. He was the leader of American independence who organized the Boston Tea Party in 1775. His arrest was attempted in 1775 and became a trigger point for the Battles of Lexington and ConcordState that led to the Revolutionary War later. He was a political agitator who advocated against âtaxation without representationâ and was also involved with the Sons of Liberty. It is noteworthy that he was also known for his strong anti-slavery beliefs. He also signed the Declaration of Independence despite the radical views.
